Hot Wheels is the twelfth episode of the fourth season of Family Matters, which aired on ABC on January 15, 1993. It was directed by John Tracy and written by Regina Stewart.
Synopsis[]
Carl buys Eddie a used police car at an auction, hoping the two can restore it together. Only thing is, he would rather bond with Waldo while restoring the beat-up car into a hot rod. Harriette soon sets Eddie straight for it. Meanwhile, Laura meets a guy named Ted selling candy, they quickly attract, and they agree to go out on a date. Soon, there seems to be a little problem with Urkel's new superglue, when it causes the nerd's hand to become bonded with Laura's shoulder.

- This episode is intended to be the second episode of Season Four, and was originally scheduled to air on September 25, 1992.
- Despite airing out of order as "Season 4, Episode 12", it is correctly listed and placed as "Season 4, Episode 2" on home video DVD releases as well as on streaming services.
- This episode is chronologically the first appearance of Ted Curran.
- This episode marks the first time Harriette calls Eddie out for the way he mistreated Carl and took him for granted. This would be repeated in season 6's The Substitute Son.
- The only time Harriette didn't call Eddie out is in Ice Station Winslow.
Goofs[]
- Due to this episode airing as the twelfth episode of the season instead of the second as intended, this episode shows Ted Curran meeting Laura for the first time and asking her out, despite already being in previously broadcast episodes as Laura's love interest.
- Urkel calls his mother "Roberta" in this episode, despite referring to her as "Diane" in "Man's Best Friend".
- Visible in top of frame just before Eddie pats the car causing the hood and trunk to pop open and the sirens to start blaring.
- The car Carl buys is a 1977 Plymouth Fury, but after they restore it, it is a 1977 Dodge Monaco.
