Christmas is Where the Heart Is in the eleventh episode of the fifth season of Family Matters, which aired on ABC on December 10, 1993. It was directed by Richard Correll and written by Stephen Langford.
Synopsis[]
Plot[]
Urkel and Carl become stranded on a subway car after a power outage on Christmas Eve. Carl and all of the car's passengers are ill-tempered, wanting to get home to celebrate the holidays with their families, leaving it up to Urkel to remind them that Christmas can be celebrated anywhere with anyone. Meanwhile, Harriette is saddened because Laura and Eddie seem to be too busy to participate in the family's traditional Christmas activities.

Trivia[]
- During the Winslow family Christmas Eve, Judy Winslow and Rachel Crawford are missing. While Judy has been written out of the show with her character retconned from existence, the same does not apply to Rachel, who still exists in continuity and would make an appearance next season. Despite this, there are no explanations given as to why Richie is at home living with the Winslows but Rachel is not.
- When Steve and Carl are trapped in the subway train, there is a map on the wall that says "Chicago Subway Map." However, if one looks at it closely, it is clearly the New York City one.
