Amos "Big Daddy" Urkel is the wealthy father of Myrtle Mae Urkel and the uncle of Steve Urkel. He was played by Reginald VelJohnson.

Character Biography[]

Big Daddy Urkel is a rich peanut farmer from Biloxi, Mississippi who made his fortune selling peanut products, with Steve claiming that he earns a penny for each time someone eat one of his peanuts. He was mentioned by Myrtle that she was sent to live with Herb as an exchange in Cousin Urkel. Big Daddy was mentioned by Steve in Have Yourself a Merry Winslow Christmas that he like the rest of his relatives all pay him bribe money to never visit them due to his unintended clumsiness.

He was mention a couple of time until he made his first appearance (Via Dream) in Nightmare at Urkel Oaks where upon seeing Myrtle trying to have her way with Eddie, thinking otherwise and plans to hurt Eddie himself, only for Myrtle to tell him she loves Eddie and he told her to wait for him in the helicopter. Later after explaining to Eddie how he wants his daughter to be happy, and to do that he wants Eddie to marry Myrtle which he refuse at first until Big Daddy offered him $10 Million and Eddie gave in.

Later at Urkel Oaks, Eddie was confuse that Big Daddy was able to pay for everything for the wedding, despite being a Peanut farmer until Big Daddy explain that he make all sorts of Peanut Products. During the Ceremony Big Daddy made an announcement which had him and the rest of the Urkel family cheering that Myrtle is getting married, However just before Eddie and Myrtle were declared Husband and Wife (with Big Daddy crossing his fingers) Greta appeared and told everyone this wedding is a farce due to Big Daddy paying Eddie to marry Myrtle.

He then Witness Greta and Myrtle duking it out as they destroyed the buffet and nearly tore Eddie apart, resulting in the dream ending.

In Dumb Belle of the Ball, Big Daddy had no respect for Eddie and was about to leave with Myrtle. He stepped up and called the arrogant people in Biloxi out for how they treated her and mentioned she risked her life to save him from being run over by that truck. Watching Eddie defend Myrtle, caused Big Daddy to show his respect for the former. He started showing more respect for Steve once he started improving himself and being less clumsy.
